Before & After Care
If you’re going to shave or wax, do so at least 24 hours before you tan.
Showering prior to your tan in recommended, exfoliate and rub-off excess, dead skin cells for an even tan.
Avoid lotion, makeup, and deodorant before tanning, these products can act as a barrier on the skin and cause streaks.
When applied, DHA (the active ingredient in sunless tanning products) reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden-brown color. Your skin begins to darken 2-3 hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours.
Right after the tanning application, avoid wearing tight fitting or light colored clothing.
For 8 hours avoid getting wet, like working out or showering to allow the tan to develop. Showering sooner may diminish the intensity of the tan.
If you opt to have the optional instant bronzer applied, it can rub off on clothing and other materials. It is water soluble and will be removed during the next wash in cold water. However, in some instances, the solution may permanently stain undergarments worn during or right after the spray session.
Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the tan, cause possible streaking and will diminish the length of your tan. However, normal activities such as bathing, showering or physical activities will not affect the quality of the tan.

If you have never tanned with us, please allow a 15 minute window to review how the machine works and how to care for your tan. Those under the age of 18 are only eligible to tan with the consent of a parent or guardian.
What is DHA?
The active ingredient most often used in all sunless tanners, including tinted moisturizers, self-tanners, and spray tan solution. DHA is a carbohydrate (monosaccharide sugar) compound approved by the FDA for use in externally applied sunless tanning solutions. For misting applications, the FDA recommends protective measures to prevent eye contact, inhalation or ingestion. DHA is often derived from a vegetable source like beets or sugar cane. The FDA added DHA to the list of approved colors for cosmetic products in the 1970s. VersaSpa DHA ingredients are eco-certified.
